I’m a self-taught baker with over 15 years of experience. I started baking as a hobby, drawn to working with my hands, and it quickly became a creative outlet I kept coming back to.

I was born and raised in London and spent many years working in IT, focusing on data, systems, and improving processes.

After moving to Zurich in 2020, I set up Connie Loves Cake the following year.

Over time, I have made thousands of cupcakes, refining recipes and focusing on what actually makes them taste good.

I love experimenting, repeating, and tweaking recipes with a focus on continuous improvement. I’m drawn to flavours like matcha and tropical notes, but I also love the classics and keep coming back to them.

I only bake what I genuinely enjoy eating, with a focus on balance and flavour. For me, a good cupcake comes down to the right ratio of sponge to frosting. The frosting should be airy, not overly sweet, and never overpower the sponge. That’s why I use Swiss meringue buttercream or German custard-based buttercream, which are smoother and more balanced than traditional frostings.

I keep things simple, use good quality ingredients, and focus on taste.
