Connie Jo Treneer
Born in Shattuck, Oklahoma • Passed away in Oceanside, California
1947 – 2025
With profound sadness and eternal hope, we share that Connie Jo Treneer entered the presence of her Savior on June 9, 2025, at the age of 77 in Oceanside, California.
Connie was born in 1947 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Joe Philip Slack and Jetta Ruth Slack, both of whom preceded her in death. As the eldest of five siblings, she embraced her role with strength and unwavering devotion. Through life’s many challenges, Connie remained a steady, dependable presence in her siblings’ lives.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Cherie Conde (David) and Cara Weaver (Geoffrey), and her treasured grandchildren: Ernie Trevizo, Louis Trevizo, Corbin Weaver, Brennan Weaver, and Remi Weaver. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings—Susan Grove (Chris), Aleta Manion (Parris), Philip Slack (Kathy), and Colleen Herring (David)—as well as extended family, dear friends, and her cherished church community.
Connie’s early years were shaped by frequent moves across the country due to her father’s work. Remarkably, she attended 12 different schools in 12 years, living in states such as Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, and California. She was baptized in 1957 at Parkland Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma—a moment that marked the beginning of her lifelong faith. Connie graduated from Crescenta Valley High School in 1965 and later completed insurance coursework at her local junior college, becoming a certified insurance agent.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Connie’s life was firmly rooted in her love for Jesus. She was a longtime member of Twin Cities Christian Church, which later became Lighthouse Christian Church in Oceanside, California—where she worshiped, served, and grew in faith for over 35 years. For more than 20 of those years, she also served on staff. Whether decorating the sanctuary for holidays, planning weddings and memorials, managing budgets, or welcoming others with a warm smile from behind her desk, Connie lived out the heart of a servant and the joy of the Lord.
Earlier in life, Connie worked as an insurance agent, later ran a word processing business, delivered newspapers, and became a florist—often juggling multiple jobs while staying home to raise her daughters. Her greatest joy came from being a mother. She was devoted to Cherie and Cara, faithfully pouring her time, creativity, and heart into their lives—never missing a recital, audition, or school event.
Connie was a gifted artist with a passion for interior design, painting, floral arranging, and all things creative. She also had a generous heart, regularly supporting ministries and charitable organizations such as Fallbrook Sanctuary (230 W Aviation Rd, Fallbrook, CA) and Alternatives Pregnancy Center (200 New Hope Rd, Galt, CA). She shared a special bond with her beloved cat Marbelo, who passed before her and was dearly loved. Connie lived with purpose and gave generously to causes she believed in.
She was strong-willed and deeply rooted in her convictions. She had no trouble making her beliefs known and rarely wavered from what she felt was right. She approached life with intensity and purpose, and her relationships reflected that same depth. She showed up, held her ground, and remained present—offering a love that was as complex as it was constant.
Above all, Connie’s life was a reflection of her enduring faith in Christ. Her legacy is one of resilience, service, and devotion. She leaves behind a powerful reminder that God works through imperfect people to show perfect love.
