Paul Slager represents plaintiffs in intricate, high-stakes litigation involving catastrophic losses of money or intangible property. Paul was ranked among the Top 10 Attorneys in Connecticut by the Connecticut Super Lawyers* publication for each of the previous four years (2019–22). The Connecticut Law Tribune's Personal Injury Hall of Fame has inducted three of his verdicts or settlements as winners, and Best Lawyers* has named Paul "Lawyer of the Year" four times (in the categories of plaintiffs' mass tort litigation/class actions and product liability litigation). Paul is the only trial lawyer to have received these distinctions. Paul has also previously held the position of president of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers group, a legal group with more than 1,300 trial lawyers as members.
Paul seeks claims on behalf of lone plaintiffs in instances involving major incidents like medical malpractice, sexual assault, violent crimes, interstate trucking accidents, faulty consumer goods, fires and explosions, and other dangerous incidents. He also represents plaintiffs in class actions where reckless or malicious behavior results in severe bodily damage or monetary loss for others. Paul's approach to these situations is shaped by his background as a tried-and-true trial lawyer with extensive courtroom experience.
Paul has pursued cases on a contingency fee basis for firms and people in instances involving major financial disputes, in keeping with his passion in managing difficult cases. Additionally, he has defended claimants in whistleblower cases, in which people report unethical or unlawful behavior that defrauds the government. When this occurs, private persons who confidentially alert the government to a fraud through court or agency files may be eligible for large compensation.
Paul's cases, to name a few, include:
The relatives of Annie Le, a graduate student at Yale University who was killed in a campus lab.
Families of numerous infants who were victims of medical malpractice during labor and delivery and sustained brain damage or other severe ailments.
Cases involving Boy Scouts of America, schools, and other relevant institutions and victims of child sexual abuse.
The wife of a Canadian man killed in the deadly explosion at the Kleen Energy power facility in Middletown, Connecticut in 2010, was one of two victims.
victim of an infamous attack and strangled at the Willow Springs Apartment Complex in New Milford, Connecticut.
