EDITORIAL
Dear colleagues and friends,
The world of oncology evolves every day with advances allowing us to offer our patients successful innovations and the best care based on high level of evidence and validated international and national guidelines. For daily practice, education/training and multidisciplinary meetings are the basis for taking decisions adapted to individual situations in the context of an increasingly personalized medicine.
Within the framework of individual educational training programs and conferences that take place globally, eXIOM (eXpert International Oncology Meeting) has been created to provide a unique experience and respond to the challenge of bringing expert advice as close as possible to practicing physicians. This meeting will allow, not only, for practice based learning from experts in the field, but will also provide a distinctive opportunity for face-to-face interactions and discussions with leading experts through organized social events throughout the course of the meeting. Its originality lies in several points (i) to offer practical case-based sessions with international experts (ii) to shed some light on experts’ opinions on current controversies and complex clinical situations, (iii) to discuss guidelines and their applicability in the field, (iv) to review the "highlights of the year” and discuss their applicability and impact on our daily practice according to the means, (v) to allow for personalized exchanges between the invited faculty with the attendees from different continents and emergent countries.
For the youngest oncologists, eXIOM will give the opportunity to present original works from medical and research teams. The reward for the best posters will offer the opportunity to distinguish our future "high potentials" in Oncology.
The choice of Istanbul to host eXIOM is made on the basis of the historic crossroads that this city represents for culture and science. Its geographical location is an opportunity to bring together professionals from all the emerging countries of Asia, Africa and Europe. In addition, the month of October is an ideal period for its mild temperatures and the timing of a recovery after the summer holidays with lots of knowledge of the most recent literature.
