Hello there — I’m Cong Cao, a Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University. My research develops causal AI and deep learning models for high-dimensional medical data, enabling causal inference and decision support in clinical and population health settings.
My work has been published in Scientific Data (Nature Portfolio), Scandinavian Journal of Public Health, Energy Policy, and Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, among others. Before Yale, I was a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). I received my Ph.D. in Economics (machine learning focus) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2023.
I am actively engaged in teaching and student mentorship. At Caltech, I designed and taught Introduction to Public Health Economics and Policy and supervised interdisciplinary student research projects, including a Caltech Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship project, work with a master’s student at Cornell University, and a master’s thesis at the University of Cambridge, UK.
