Specific competences and correlation with the conFiRMa project
During the MSc course, I developed great interest in the rehabilitation of historical masonry structures, orienting my subsequent training and professional choices towards the use of innovative fiber-based materials to preserve these assets.
As research fellow, I joined a starting project at the University of Trieste concerning the use of Fibre-Reinforced Mortar for the strengthening of existing walls; then I decided to attend the PhD course in Engineering and Architecture, dealing with this specific topic. I acquired competences in the design and execution of experimental tests (both in the laboratory and in the field), in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data and in the use of different tools for the numerical modelling of structures.
The numerous papers, technical reports, presentations and project proposals I wrote down in these years let me improve competences in the use of technical language and in dissemination and exploitation activities.
I enhanced my communication skills by presenting the research results to different audience: academic sector, professional engineers and company staff. Besides, the activity as a teaching assistant improved my teaching abilities.
The participation to national and international conferences and projects, as well as collaborations with different Universities and other research Institutions, allowed me to meet and interact with several Academics and researchers.
I also interacted with private companies, with both head office and technical staff, dealing thus not only with the academic aspects but also with actual problems of practical application and commercial needs.
