CONFÉTI is an annual student conference sponsored by the Transdisciplinary Quantum Information Institute (INTRIQ). It attracts graduate students and postdocs in the fields of physics, mathematics, computer science, and angineering, working on projects related to quantum computing, quantum information, and quantum mechanics in general.
The main goal of CONFÉTI is to foster communication, discussion, and collaboration between students working in quantum-mechanics-related fields at Université de Sherbrooke, McGill University, Université de Montréal, and Polytechnique Montréal.
Registration is open until December 20th.

During your studies and future academic or industrial career, your communication skills will play an important role in your success. Come improve these skills with other students! You can practice your thesis defence, conference paper, or any other type of presentation in front of quantum-hungry students just like you!
Simultaneously, you can seize this opportunity to become entangled with other students in various quantum-mechanics-related fields for future collaborations.
Finally, cash prizes will be awarded for the best presentations, with the winners selected by audience vote.
When registering for CONFÉTI 2025, you will need to specify what kind of presentation you wish to give, as well as submit an abstract. It is expected that all participants give a presentation in one of the formats, except for circumstances such as having just commenced your degree (please note this on the registration form).
Following registration and abstract submission, the presentations will be grouped by theme. The organizing committee may also suggest changes to certain presentations to maintain a balance of topics and representation from students of different levels. Participation will be prioritized for students who have attended CONFÉTI fewer times in the past, to allow new students to get experience practicing their talks, discussing their research, and networking.
The suggested language for presentations is English, but presentations in French are also accepted.
15 min talk + 3 min Q&A
Present a pedagogical introduction to a subject (typically related to your research project) to make it interesting and accessible to everyone.
15 min talk + 3 min Q&A
A specialized talk about your research project. If possible, this will be grouped with an introductory talk about the same field.
Dedicated poster session
Present your research at your pace, and interact with people in a more intimate setting!
Prizes will be awarded for the best presentations and posters.
CONFÉTI 2025 will be held at the Château Bromont, in Bromont.
INTRIQ will cover the cost of your room for the nights of January 13th and 14th. Checkout is on January 15th before noon.
Rooms are double-occupancy; you have the opportunity to specify a preferred roommate when registering.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided throughout the meeting, as well as coffee and other refreshments during breaks between presentation sessions.
Dietary restrictions or allergies should be indicated on the registration form.
A chartered bus will be booked to provide transport between Montréal and Bromont. More details will be communicated soon!
If there is enough interest, a chartered bus may also be booked for traveling from Sherbrooke (please indicate this on the registration form). The usual reimbursed carpooling will be an option if the bus is not used. More details will be communicated soon!
To discuss special arrangements or extraneous circumstances, please contact Marc Leclair (marc dot leclair at usherbrooke dot ca).
CONFÉTI is brought to you by the INTRIQ Student Committee:
Sam Wolski (Université de Sherbrooke)
Martin Schnee (Université de Sherbrooke)
Felix Wilhelmy (ETS Montréal)
We are always interested in recruiting new members! If you would like to join the INTRIQ Student Committee and be involved with the organization of events such as CONFÉTI, please let us know.
