Overview
CONFÉTI (CONFérence ÉTudiante de l'INTRIQ - French for INTRIQ Student Conference) is a yearly student conference sponsored by Institut Transdisciplinaire d'Information Quantique (INTRIQ - French for Transdisciplinary Quantum Information Institute). It attracts graduate students and postdocs in the fields of physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering working on projects related to quantum computing, quantum information, and quantum mechanics in general.

There will be two types of presentations at CONFÉTI 2021:

- Introduction talks
Length: 25 minutes + 5 minutes for questions.

Goal: To present a pedagogical introduction to a subject (typically related to your research project) to make it interesting and accessible for everyone. Typical subjects requiring an introduction talk include, but are not limited to: superconducting qubits, semiconductor qubits, optical qubits and communication, ion trap qubits, quantum error correction, quantum algorithms.

When registering for CONFÉTI 2021, you will need to specify if you want to give an introduction talk or a specialty talk, and you will need to submit an abstract for your presentation.

Following registration and abstract submissions, the presentations will be grouped in themes; some people might be asked if they want to change their presentation type (introduction and specialty). An important feature of this conference is that everyone should give a presentation, including interns and people who recently started a M.Sc., Ph.D., or postdoc. If you want to attend without giving a presentation, you need to fill the registration form and provide a justification (e.g. you just started your M.Sc.). If too many abstracts are received, the selection will be based on experience: given that one of the objectives of the conference is to allow people to practice talks, participants with the least amount of experience will be selected in priority.

CONFÉTI is usually held at a ski resort (in recent years, at Bromont, Quebec). Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CONFÉTI 2021 will be held online. Nevertheless, CONFÉTI 2021 remains an excellent opportunity for INTRIQ students to mingle, network, learn from their peers, share their own work, and have the opportunity to win one of the presentation cash prizes!

Thanks to a generous contribution by Université de Montréal, we are pleased to announce that $800 in cash prizes will be awarded for some of the best introduction and specialty talks. Recipients of these prizes will be selected by the CONFÉTI 2021 participants by popular vote.
