Klára Kovács PhD. habil. is an associate professor at the University of Debrecen and a senior researcher at the Centre for Higher Education Research and Development Hungary (CHERD-H). She received her PhD in sociology from the University of Debrecen in 2010. In 2014 she received her PhD in Educational Sciences in the Educational and Cultural Doctoral Programme of the University of Debrecen. Her research focuses on the social, institutional and individual determinants of students' and teachers' sporting habits in the Carpathian Basin and the effects of sport on well-being, health behaviour and academic performance.

• Introducing of the main research projects of Center for Higher Education research and

      Development Hungary (CHRRD-H);

• Effects of social background (gender, age, social status) on sporting habits. Theories of Bourdieu, Hradil and Bandura on sport: social and subjective determinants of sport, social learning theory;

• Social disadvantages in sport, especially in Hungary and other post-communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe;

• Relationships between sport activity and happiness and satisfaction with life;

• Comparative data about sporting habits of students inside and outside of Hungary;

• Dimensions of academic achievement in Higher Education - Social disadvantages in sport, especially in Hungary and other post-communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe; 

• Comparative data about sporting habits of students inside and outside of Hungary;

• Theoretical background of relationship between sport activity and academic achievement: personality development theory, zero-sum theory, social capital theory, student integration theory;

• How different sporting activities influence different dimensions of students’ academic

      achievement?;

• Differences of elite sport athletes, regular sporting and non-sporting students;

• Differences in persistence of sport club members inside, outside of university, who are members both and non-members.
