MS delegates should NOT submit Position Papers.
*HS Delegates who do not meet the Position Paper deadline, November 29, 2024 11:59pm, will be ineligible for ANY awards.
Additionally, 20% of Delegates' Position Paper score will be added to Committee points.
Papers received after the deadline will not be graded.

When e-mailing your position paper, include your Committee AND Country in your subject line ex. UNODC - Ghana
Delegates should receive a message confirming their paper has been received. If no confirmation has been sent by December 1, 2024, please send a follow-up message to ensure your paper may be accessed and graded.
HS Committees (4): Novice and Open
For High School Committees, please refer to our Sample Paper and Rubric.
Position Papers should be written in the following Format, and be 2-3 pages in length, not including citations.
12 Font, Times New Roman, double spaced
Heading - ONLY on the first page; includes your full Committee name, full country name, & topic.
Body of Paper - Divided into 5 sections, bold titles, & labeled w/ Roman numerals
I. Topic Background - Historical facts and contains the cause of the issue.
II. Past Actions - What has been done to mitigate the issue at hand? This can be U.N. resolutions, IGO's, NGO's, governments, or private groups’ attempts to solve the problem. Analyze these actions by discussing their positive/negative impacts.
III. Country Policy - What is your country’s stance on the issue at hand? Declare your country’s situation, position, and ideas on the issue.
IV. Proposed Solutions - Detailed, realistic solutions your nation feels would improve the situation for all regions affected.
V. Works Cited (MLA format)
For Crisis Committees, please refer to our Crisis Position Paper Guidelines, Sample Paper, and Rubric.
I. Topic Background - Provide a detailed explanation of the events surrounding/leading up to the crisis.
II. Past Actions - Include any relevant past actions taken to mitigate the issue at hand. Analyze these actions by discussing their positive/negative impacts. This would replace the UN Involvement section of a standard position paper.
III. Character Background - Describe your character’s historical background, as well as any bias your character may have. You should clearly state your character’s stance on the issue here. This would replace the Country Policy section of a standard position paper.
IV. Character Goals - Outline your strategy for the committee based on information you have gathered about your character. This should be the longest section of your position paper & would replace the Solutions section of a standard position paper.
