CONDIV Workshop: Austrian Register Data – Experiences and Best Practices
On 20 April 2026, the CONDIV team hosted a one-day workshop on Austrian register data in Vienna, Austria. The workshop brought together 31 researchers working with administrative and register data to exchange experiences, discuss common challenges, and identify best practices for register-based research.
The program included presentations of ongoing register-based research projects from a range of Austrian research institutions, including the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), the University of Vienna (UNIVIE), the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO), the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna), and Central European University (CEU). The event also featured a keynote by representatives of the Austrian Micro Data Center (AMDC) from Statistics Austria on practical experiences working with Austrian register data, as well as interactive discussions on topics such as data access, data linkage and harmonization, research infrastructure, and costs.
The workshop provided an opportunity for participants to network, exchange knowledge, and strengthen collaboration among researchers using Austrian register data. The workshop was conducted in German.
