Concerts on Connolly aims to employ the power of live music, celebrating diversity and bringing communities together. We strive to provide high-quality musical performances that are accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Through our efforts, we hope to foster a deeper appreciation of the arts and to strengthen the bonds that connect people and communities.
This story begins with Asli Suna and Selcuk Suna, who live in the Carleton Village Community of Pelham Park, Toronto. Selcuk is a professional musician and an immigrant from Turkey. Asli teaches full-time ESL to newcomers in high school.
With the onset of the COVID pandemic and the subsequent isolation felt by many, we decided to bring a little cheer by hosting a single concert on our driveway, so in September of 2020, with only one day notice, we posted the concert flyer to our online Facebook community group. Over a hundred of you came out to watch from Wadsworth Park, across the street.
Every summer, since 2021, we have been hosting 3-4 high quality concerts for the community in Wadsworth Park. We only ask for a pay-what-you-can donation with all proceeds going to the artists.
