HONOURING OUR DEAR FRIEND

AND BELOVED MEMBER

ANGUS YUEN

Our dear friend Angus passed away on March 11, 2026. He had a long and difficult journey with cancer over the past 7 years. Angus is a talented violinist, hockey enthusiast, long distance cyclist, and Disney lover.  He has been a member of VPOPS since 2018, and has been a strong and steadfast musician in our midst serving as concertmaster, and principal 2nd violin, in both our symphonic orchestra, and pit orchestra. Even while he was going through treatments and fighting cancer, he always kept coming to orchestra practice and performing at every concert. I always told him to take it easy. But he would always say to me, 'coming to VPOPS is what's keeping me going.' He always carried a smile and had such a pleasant energy around him. Regardless of the circumstance and what he was personally going through, he always stayed incredibly positive. He loved playing the violin, playing with VPOPS, and being with his friends in this way. He was still actively playing as of October last year, but has been in and out of hospital care since November.

It has been such an honour to know him, perform with him, and have him be an integral part of the VPOPS family for so many years. We are grateful for all his contributions and will hold many wonderful memories fondly. He will be missed dearly. May our friend rest in peace.
