Politics and practices of home and neighbourhood in the Nordic-Baltic region
Politics and practices of home and neighbourhood in the Nordic-Baltic region
2-3 October 2025, University of Helsinki
The COMU Workshop “Politics and Practices of Home and Neighbourhood in the Nordic–Baltic Region” was held on 2–3 October 2025 at the University of Helsinki. The event brought together researchers interested in how people experience, create, and imagine home and community in the Nordic–Baltic region. It aimed to connect scholars from different countries and disciplines to exchange perspectives on how home and neighbourhood are shaped by social, cultural, and political dynamics.
Unlike a traditional academic conference, the workshop focused on networking and dialogue rather than presenting full research papers. Participants introduced themselves, shared their current projects, and discussed their interests related to the COMU research agenda. The sessions encouraged open conversations about shared themes, research methods, and possible areas of collaboration.
By the end of the workshop, participants had identified potential directions for joint work, including collaborative publications, events, research visits, and funding applications. The workshop successfully strengthened the COMU network and laid the foundation for future cooperation among researchers exploring the politics and practices of home and neighbourhood across the Nordic–Baltic region.
