COMSOL Multiphysics is a finite element analysis, solver, and simulation software package for various physics and engineering applications, especially coupled phenomena and multiphysics. The software facilitates conventional physics-based user interfaces and coupled systems of partial differential equations (PDEs). Predefined multiphysics-application templates solve many common problem types. You have the option of choosing different physics from the Multiphysics menu and defining the interdependencies yourself. As of July 2021, the Department of Chemical Engineering participates in a shared comsol license with other departments across the college and University. The teaching license (CKL) is available to anyone on-campus and does not require any registration or special configuration. The research license (FNL) is limited to registered users only, by Andrew ID. The username on your computer MUST match your Andrew ID. Faculty and PhD students are registered for the research license by default. Anyone else that needs to use this license must request access by sending an email to cheme-computing@andrew.cmu.edu .

The Design Module expands the available toolset of CAD functionalities and includes loft, fillet, chamfer, midsurface and thicken, in addition to CAD import and geometry repair. LiveLink for Revit allows COMSOL users to interface with Autodesk building information modeling software. Users can synchronize a geometry between Autodesk Revit Architecture and COMSOL, allowing multiphysics simulations to be brought into the architectural design workflow.

The simulation of the electromagnetic wave propagation as well as the antenna performance plays an important role in solving the communication blackout issue. Finite element analysis software package COMSOL multiphysics facilitates the simulation of the electromagnetic wave propagation in the presence of the non-uniform reentry plasma sheath. The 3D simulation model including the realistic antenna structure is established in this paper. The propagation characteristics of electromagnetic waves are analyzed by the observation of the field distributions. The antenna performance is analyzed and evaluated based on the simulation results, such as the S parameter and the Gain of the antenna. The relevant research in this paper can be the foundation to employ the COMSOL to study the interactions between the electromagnetic wave and the reentry plasma sheath. ff782bc1db
