The COMSATS Wheat Lab (CWL) is a multidisciplinary research group dedicated to advancing wheat science through genomics, artificial intelligence (AI), bioinformatics, and precision breeding. Led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajjad, the lab focuses on developing innovative wheat genetic, genomic, and phenomic resources using modern omics technologies and AI-assisted crop improvement approaches.
Identification of genes associated with wheat yield, quality, and stress tolerance.
Application of artificial intelligence and imaging technologies for crop phenotyping.
Use of molecular markers and genomic tools for targeted wheat improvement.
Development of high-quality and nutritionally enhanced wheat varieties.
Research on wheat responses to heat, drought, and salinity stress.
Discovery of multiple wheat genes associated with yield and quality.
Development of high-throughput KASP markers.
Establishment of AI-based phenotyping pipelines.
Development of high amylose and waxy wheat lines.
Publication of 70+ SCI-indexed research papers.
