Comrade Sewing is a leftist project with the goal of making as many vintage sewing patterns available to the public as possible. The patterns that the project acquires are scanned, traced, made into a home-printer-friendly pdf, and released to the public for download.
Comrade Sewing's philosophy is that anyone should be able to create their own clothing if they so desire, and have access to the knowledge and materials to learn to sew.
The current trendiness of sewing and DIY has caused scalpers to descend onto thrift shops at an even greater rate. They scoop up cheap vintage patterns so they can be resold at enormous profit margins, furthering the price rises at thrift stores, and widening the gap in access to resources necessary to create clothing.
Comrade Sewing can not single-handedly provide people access to everything needed to sew clothing and other goods, but it aims to provide a resource that closes a bit of the gap.
These patterns will always remain 100% free to the public for download on Comrade Sewing.
Comrade Sewing is the creation of QschoolCandy, and she does this work in her spare time.
