Purpose of the Program
Since knowledge of linguistics and grammar is essential for developing computational tools related to language, this training program primarily aims to raise awareness among participants from the linguistic community of the North-Eastern region about the interconnection between linguistics and computational linguistics. It also seeks to equip them with foundational skills and help them explore some of the most promising and in-demand areas in the field. This program also aims to bring in experts from corpus linguistics, who will discuss the interface between corpus linguistics and computational linguistics, highlighting the importance of corpus building in the development of computational tools such as taggers, parsers, machine translation systems (MTS), and AI applications.
