Students have to do a project in groups of 1-3. Some proposed project topics and ideas will be published on the course website during the course. The course project will account for 50% of the course grade.
There will be two in-class exams. The better of your two exam scores will account for 30% of the course grade. If you take only one exam, then your score in that exam will count toward your course grade. If you are miss both exams, you will not get any credit.
There is no final exam.
There will be one homework assignment that will be populated during the course and will be due at the end of the course. The homework assignment will not be graded but you will receive up to 10% of the course grade simply for submitting the assignment. For instance, if the assigned problems have a total of 100 points on them and you submit answers that are at least genuine attempts at solving problems with 50 assigned points, then you will get 5% of the course grade. Some homework problems will be repeated in the exams.
Grading and Class Participation
In this course, the lectures are expected to be interactive sessions. Class participation will be crucial. In addition, each student is expected to grade one or more exam problems. These will account for 10% of the course grade.
