The semi-ruled composition notebooks are also known as "primary composition notebooks". They are composition notebooks for kindergarten children. These notebooks are primary composition notebooks with picture space for drawing.

They are called semi-ruled because half of each page is has ruled lines while the remaining half is not ruled. The half-page that is ruled is used by kindergarten and primary school children to practice writing of alphabets and numbers.
