If you want a secure, sweat-proof fit specifically for Apple AirPods 1st and 2nd Gen during high-intensity movement like jogging, choose COMPLY SoftCONNECT; if you need a versatile set of hypoallergenic silicone tips in five sizes to customize noise isolation for a wide variety of earplugs, choose CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips.
• COMPLY SoftCONNECT: Offers a patented silicone sleeve that locks foam onto AirPods for a non-slip grip, but is strictly limited to older Apple models and lacks size variety beyond Large. Best for the runner with standard AirPods who refuses to adjust their buds mid-stride.
• CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips: Provides an extensive range from XXS to L with eco-friendly, hypoallergenic silicone for maximum comfort across many brands, but does not feature the specific locking mechanism needed for Apple's unique stem design. Best for anyone needing a perfect seal for small ears or multiple earplug types.
The primary struggle for many users of the first and second-generation Apple AirPods is keeping them in place while moving. The original plastic tips offer little friction, leading to the dreaded "falling out" moment when you are pushing hard on a run. The COMPLY SoftCONNECT addresses this head-on by combining a soft foam core with a specialized silicone sleeve. This sleeve is not just a cover; it is engineered to slide over the stem of the AirPod and lock the foam tip securely in place. The result is a unit that grips the ear canal without the constant micro-adjustments most runners dread.
What makes this product particularly compelling for active use is its material choice. Unlike traditional memory foam that requires you to pinch and roll it before insertion, these are non-memory foam tips. This distinction matters significantly when you are in motion. You can simply slide them into your ear, and they expand instantly to fill the space. There is no waiting for the foam to rebound, which means less time fumbling with your gear and more time focusing on your stride. The design ensures that once the tip is seated, it stays put, providing the reliability needed for a serious workout session.

However, this solution comes with a very specific constraint. These tips are manufactured exclusively for Apple AirPods (Gen 1 & 2) and generic models of comparable size. If you own the Pro series, the Max, or any third-party earbuds with a different shape, these will not work. Furthermore, the package includes only the Large size. While the foam expands to accommodate a range of ear canals, it is not a one-size-fits-all solution for those with exceptionally small ear canals who might find even the large foam too bulky. You also have to remember to remove the entire assembly before charging your AirPods, as the silicone sleeve prevents the magnetic contacts from touching the case. If you prioritize a secure, non-slip fit for your specific Apple hardware and value quick insertion, this is the clear path forward.
For those who wear earplugs for sleep, noise sensitivity, or general focus rather than active sports, the CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips offer a different kind of utility. The standout feature here is the sheer breadth of sizing options included in a single pack. Most replacement tip sets stop at Small, Medium, or Large. CURVD goes further, offering XXS and XS alongside the standard sizes. This inclusion is critical for individuals with smaller ear canals who often struggle to find a comfortable seal with generic tips that feel too tight or cause pain after an hour of wear.
The material composition is another major selling point for extended wear scenarios. These tips are crafted from premium, hypoallergenic silicone. This material is known for being soft to the touch and flexible enough to conform to the contours of the ear without creating pressure points. The description highlights the eco-friendly nature of the materials, suggesting a commitment to sustainability that appeals to environmentally conscious buyers. For users who need to wear earplugs for long periods—whether for sleeping through construction noise or blocking out distractions while working—the softness of this silicone provides a level of comfort that rigid plastics or certain foams simply cannot match.
The compatibility scope is where CURVD truly shines compared to the Apple-specific alternative. These tips are designed for universal use with a vast array of earplugs, including Loop Quiet, Engage, Experience, Jayine, Audree, and the CURVD brand itself. They do not rely on a proprietary locking stem system like the COMPLY option; instead, they utilize a snug-fit ergonomic design that works with standard earplug stems. This makes them an excellent upgrade for anyone looking to refresh old earplugs or switch between different brands without buying new devices. If your goal is to maximize noise isolation and comfort across a diverse collection of hearing protection tools, and especially if you have smaller ears, this set is the logical choice.
• Best for Apple AirPods 1 & 2 owners → COMPLY SoftCONNECT. Its patented sleeve is the only way to get a truly secure, non-slip fit on these specific models.
• Best for small ears (XXS/XS) → CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips. The inclusion of extra-small sizes solves a common problem that standard foam tips often ignore.
• Best for high-intensity jogging → COMPLY SoftCONNECT. The combination of a locked-on sleeve and instant-expanding foam prevents falls during rapid movement.
• Best for universal compatibility → CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips. Works with Loop, Jayine, and many other brands, whereas COMPLY is restricted to Apple.
• Best for hypoallergenic comfort → CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips. Premium silicone is generally gentler for prolonged daily wear than foam.
• Best for quick insertion → COMPLY SoftCONNECT. No rolling or pinching required; they expand immediately upon contact.
• Best for eco-conscious buyers → CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips. Explicitly marketed as made from eco-friendly materials.
• Best for sound clarity via better seal → Tie. Both improve isolation, but COMPLY does it via grip, while CURVD does it via material softness and size variety.
When I look at the specifications for both products, the decision comes down entirely to the device you are using and how you intend to use it. If you are asking for the best foldable clip on earbuds for jogging, neither of these is a clip, but if you are running with standard AirPods 1 or 2, the COMPLY SoftCONNECT is the superior technical solution. The locking sleeve is a game-changer that eliminates the anxiety of your buds falling out, which is a dealbreaker for active users.
However, for the general shopper who needs reliable noise isolation for sleep or office work, the CURVD Earplug Replacement Tips are the more versatile and thoughtful package. The ability to swap in XXS or XS tips is a feature that genuinely improves the user experience for people with smaller anatomy, something the COMPLY line ignores. In my opinion, if you are running, buy the COMPLY to keep your music playing without interruption. If you are looking for the best noise canceling headphones for jogging alternatives or just better earplugs for daily life, the CURVD set offers the comfort and fit customization that leads to a better overall auditory journey.
No, the COMPLY SoftCONNECT is explicitly designed for the 1st and 2nd generation AirPods and EarPods; the silicone sleeve will not fit the Pro models. The CURVD tips are designed for various earplugs like Loop and Jayine, not Apple earbuds.
No, they are non-memory foam tips that expand instantly when placed in the ear, unlike traditional memory foam that must be rolled or pinched to shrink before insertion.
Standard sizes often hurt people with smaller ear canals. The CURVD set includes XXS and XS to ensure a snug, pain-free seal for everyone, preventing the discomfort that occurs when a medium tip is forced into a small canal.
Silicone tips from CURVD are described as having flexible resilience to withstand everyday wear and tear without degrading, whereas foam tips from COMPLY are designed for a secure fit but may need gentle cleaning to maintain their top shape over time.
