I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Seoul National University, where my research focused on web engines, particularly JavaScript engines. During my doctoral studies, I developed and applied several optimization techniques to enhance the overall performance of web engines.
After completing my Ph.D. in 2018, I joined Samsung Research, where I was involved in the development and optimization of lightweight, open-source web engines. Notable projects include Escargot and Walrus, which are publicly available through the Samsung GitHub organization (github.com/Samsung) . These engines have been widely adopted for running web-based services embedded in Samsung products.
In March 2025, I joined the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Jeonbuk National University as an assistant professor. At Jeonbuk National University, I founded the Compiler Intelligence Lab, where I continue my research on web engines as well as broader compiler-related topics.
