COMPEER was started in 2018 by Benjamin and Micah Weir. These two identical twins have been working with computers since they were 8 years old and have been fascinated by them ever since. In 2016, they were challenged in high school to find a problem in the world around them and resolve it. The problem they found was not every student had enough money to have a computer of their own, so these students would have to stay after school and use the few computers available for students in the library. This soon changed as the brothers started refurbishing used computers and giving them to students for free. They called this service Computers For Peers or COMPEER for short. The business also grew to involve helping others with computer issues they were facing. After high school, the twins enrolled at Salt Lake Community College and studied for five years learning everything they could about computers. They got certified by Adobe, Microsoft, and TestOut, while also earning the CompTIA A+ certification, which is the industry standard for computer specialists around the world. The CompTIA A+ certification is earned by passing two exams created by IT industry professionals. Unlike other certifications that focus on one area, CompTIA A+ covers a diverse array of knowledge, making it relevant for many IT job roles. Even with all the certifications and schooling, they are still learning more every day as the world of technology is an ever-evolving industry. Treating everyone they see with respect and honesty is their number one goal.
