AuraaByte ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Compass GPS & Live Weather mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.
By downloading, accessing, or using Compass GPS & Live Weather, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Compass GPS & Live Weather requires access to your device's location to deliver its core features, including:
Calculating real-time heading, latitude, longitude, and altitude.
Displaying your position on Google Maps (Standard, Satellite, Terrain, Hybrid modes).
Fetching local, real-time weather forecasts.
Enabling location and distance tracking during outdoor activities.
Precise Location: We access your precise GPS location while the app is active in the foreground (and in the background only if you explicitly enable active distance/route tracking).
Data Handling: Location data is processed locally on your device or transmitted ephemerally to map and weather service APIs to retrieve localized results. We do not store your permanent location history on our servers.
To emulate a physical compass, surface horizontal leveling, and monitor magnetic interference, the App accesses built-in device sensors:
Magnetometer (Compass sensor): Measures magnetic field strength and calculates magnetic and true north.
Accelerometer & Gyroscope: Detects device tilt and horizontal level.
Barometer/Altimeter (if available): Calculates altitude variations.
Sensor data is processed in real time entirely on your device and is never uploaded or saved.
When you use the App, we or our third-party partners may automatically collect certain diagnostic and device data, including:
Device model, manufacturer, and operating system version.
Unique device identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID or Identifier for Advertisers - IDFA).
App performance metrics, crash logs, and network connection type.
We use the collected information strictly for:
Providing core navigation, leveling, mapping, and live weather functionalities.
Calculating magnetic declination to switch seamlessly between magnetic north and true north.
Monitoring, diagnosing, and fixing technical bugs, crashes, and performance issues.
Serving contextual or non-personalized advertisements to keep the app free.
We may employ third-party SDKs to facilitate our service, deliver map layers, supply weather data, and support our free model via advertising. These third parties have access to your data only to perform specific tasks on our behalf:
Google Maps Platform: Provides map tiles (Standard, Satellite, Terrain, Hybrid) and geolocation services. Governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Weather API Providers: Receives geographic coordinates to return localized temperature, wind, and forecast information.
Advertising Networks (e.g., Google AdMob): May use device advertising IDs to display ads within the App.
Analytics and Crash Reporting (e.g., Google Firebase Crashlytics): Analyzes stability and app performance.
Retention: We do not maintain user databases storing your personal coordinates, routes, or contact information. Sensor metrics are discarded instantly after being drawn to the screen.
Security: We value your trust in providing us your information and employ commercially acceptable methods to protect it. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
The App requests the following core device permissions:
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: To determine your position for compass heading, altitude, mapping, and local weather.
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: To load map tiles, pull live weather conditions, and display ads.
You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time via your device's system settings. Revoking location access will disable compass coordinates, map positioning, and live weather updates.
Compass GPS & Live Weather does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and become aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take immediate action.
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. You are advised to review this page periodically for changes.
