Fleet And Asset Tracking

Vehicle GPS Locator System

In today's environment of thin margins, escalating fuel costs and regulatory compliance requirements, it is essential to understand which technologies can best benefit your daily operations. With the abundance of solutions and systems on the market today, it can be daunting, to fleets of all sizes, to really understand which technology solutions will be the most effective in managing your vehicles and assets in the field. For this reason, most organizations choose to work with technology solutions providers to gain insight into which solutions are right for their business requirements, and, ultimately choosing which solutions to deploy in the field. Real Time Asset tracking solutions

Some of the benefits that can be gained through deploying fleet and asset management technologies:

• Increased productivity: Fleet management technologies are effective in increasing productivity across business operations. Mobile resources are actively managed in real-time to allow quick responses and adjustments to field activities to minimize down-time and out-of-route-activities, dispatch closest resources, and keep mobile workers accountable, and vehicles on course.

• Reduced Costs: Investments in fleet and asset management technologies ultimately provide cost savings across many areas such as payroll, through a reduction in unauthorized overtime, under-utilization of assets such as trailers, reduced mileage costs through optimized routing, and reduction in fines through driver behavior management.

• Improved Fuel Management: Reduced and better managed fuel costs through vehicle identification during fueling, and monitoring activities like idling, and aggressive driver behavior such as speeding and hard braking.

• Better Visibility and Control: Having better visibility over mobile resources and assets allows for more immediate and effective decision-making across operations.

• Better Customer Service: Knowing where vehicles, deliveries, and field service workers are enable precise communication to customers of information such as accurate ETAs, and provides field service personnel relevant details like driving directions, and delivery and service/repair instructions to ensure to keep them on track and on time.

• Tangible ROI: Finally, whether monitoring vehicle location and speed, driver behavior, engine hours, or trailer temperature, expert deployment and maintenance services will help you rapidly achieve and maintain a tangible return on your technology investments.

Fleet and asset management technologies offer many benefits, and provide long-term value to business operations. There are a variety of solutions from which to choose, with each offering its own set of benefits. Working in tandem with technology solutions providers and deployment professionals will ensure a timely and efficient implementation with minimal disruption to field operations, and a quick path to achieving a return on your investment

GPS tracking systems are a game changer. Using satellites and delivering nearly up to the minute location updates, GPS tracking makes keeping tabs on anything equipped with a tracking device a snap. Kids love being able to locate their tablet or phone, which is buried under pillows, piles of clothing or sofa cushions, with the swipe of a finger using mom's cell phone. Families and enthusiasts having been using this for years to explore, track and locate cashes hidden in rural and urban areas.

Fleet managers are using the this technology to better manage their fleets, their workers and customer inquiries. Access to real time data is a busy manager's dream. How fast is work getting done. What is the average speed of a given truck on a given highway. Where are trucks 2, 3 and 4 during the lunch hour. Is there a truck in the vicinity of an urgent service call? No walkie talkies or calls routed through dispatch. With a swipe of a finger, managers have the data they need to answers all these questions and more.

Businesses can use GPS tracking systems to provide customers with real time information and keep both customers and service providers on track. GPS tracking can also be used to reward superior service times and collect data to be used in training initiatives and employee incentive programs.

Drivers everywhere are benefiting from GPS guided driving. Routes planned and re-planned all while on the go. Detours, heavy traffic, and unfamiliar areas are no longer a problem. With GPS tracking, drivers can navigate even the most difficult of routes, with confidence. This can be especially helpful, when a fleet manager is down a driver and needs to assign a sub in hurry.

This isn't just for business. Hikers, skiers and even runners are utilizing GPS tracking to make their hobbies safer and easier. A compass is great for a back to basics hike or as a back up, but a GPS tracking device makes it easier to explore unfamiliar territories and makes the hikers or runners easier to locate in the case of an emergency.

This systems do require some maintenance from time to time, especially those with map displays. If the GPS tracker in question is merely a transponder type system, likely all that will be required is a power source. Some can be hardwired into the vehicle and other work on a long lasting battery, while others will require daily charging. The newest GPS tracking systems are applications, designed to work on a mobile device.

While some people fear for, equating them with the long arm of big brother, they are enhancing the safety of many activities and GPS tracking is already the industry standard in fleet management. It is a worthy investment for any business and those who do not adopt it, will certainly fall behind their competition. This technology enhance safety and provide customers with the answers they need.

We all know of someone who has been a victim of car theft; perhaps you yourself have been a victim. The use of anti-theft devices, like the club, may deter some thieves, while others love the thrill of a challenge and will stop at nothing until they achieve their goal of driving away in your car. Car alarms go off so often these days that people barely pay attention to them any more. Police do their best to catch the criminals, but are not always successful and if they do find your car, it will likely be severely damaged.

There is a more pro-active way to protect your car and stop car thieves in their tracks; by using a vehicle GPS tracking system. A covert tracking system will tell you instantly where your car is located so you can inform the police right away and get your vehicle back safe and sound.

With today's technology, vehicle GPS tracking systems are easy to install and use. They are no bigger than the size of a dollar bill, and can hide virtually anywhere in your vehicle: under the dash, in the glove compartment, even underneath your bumper!

With the purchase of a vehicle GPS system, you will be able to activate your account online (this may require a monthly fee) where you will be able to log in at any time, from any computer, to track where your car is, and where it has been. You will have access to a detailed map showing all the stops your vehicle has made, complete with street addresses, time and speed of the vehicle.

There are usually several plans available that will let you track more or less often: every 3 minutes, 5 minutes or every 45 seconds depending on your budget. Monthly plans cost anywhere from $20 a month to over $70 a month.

Depending on which vehicle GPS tracking system you purchase, it can be hardwired, or completely self-contained, running on batteries. The battery-operated units are easily transferable to other vehicles. If using a battery-operated unit, you must remember to change the batteries every month.

Vehicle GPS tracking systems are also convenient for businesses that have large fleets of trucks to keep track of. They can make sure that their drivers are making deliveries on time, and not driving recklessly.

Do your research and compare prices when buying a vehicle GPS tracking system. Know exactly what it will cost you every month and what you will be receiving for your money. Remember, spending a few dollars now can save you thousands of dollars later in damages and higher insurance rates.

GPS technology has advanced a great deal since its first commercial use over 20 years ago. GPS tracking software is now web-based, allowing fleet managers to access comprehensive information about their fleet's status and activity from any PC or smartphone. It no longer consists of simply finding the location of a vehicle or asset. It has become an increasingly instrumental resource for construction fleets, allowing for control of, and insight into, all fleet-based activity.

24/7 Location

GPS tracking systems monitor vehicles or assets 24/7. At any time, fleet managers can quickly find the resources they need by selecting the name of the resource from a fleet list or from a map. Being able to see the entire operation from a single map, helps keep management visually aware of what is happening at any particular moment and keeps projects on schedule without delay.

Reduce Labor Costs

Know exactly when your drivers start their shifts for the day, where they are, how many stops they made, and what time they completed their jobs.

Taking the long way home to get some overtime, heading home for a long lunch or nap, and falsifying hours are all things of the past. Get notified immediately when any of these occurrences happen. Reducing overtime pay leads to more profit for your company and less strain on an already tight budget.

Recover Stolen Assets Faster

When vehicles or assets are stolen, GPS fleet tracking technology is there to ensure that they are recovered faster, saving companies time and money on replacing what was stolen.

Improve Worksite Compliance

On any construction site, there are limited hours of operation and restricted access areas. Management does not have to be on site to be aware of whether or not the crew is adhering to these restrictions.

Improve Billing Accuracy

Detailed GPS tracking reports allow companies to determine and defend the exact amount of time to invoice a customer. When there are customer disputes, GPS tracking provides hard evidence to prove the total amount of time and number of visits to a jobsite.

Manage Your Fleet On-the-go

GPS fleet and asset tracking has emerged as one of today's most valuable tools for construction fleet management. The technological advancements and benefits of having a GPS tracking system make it hard to justify why all construction companies don't have one already.

Stop wasting valuable time and resources with old management practices and make your fleet more effective and efficient with a GPS tracking system.

You can send and receive text messages to and from all of your drivers using highly reliable and fast SMS text messaging. Certain functions can be performed using SMS text messages, such as checking a vehicle's location, receiving an alert when a vehicle starts or arrives somewhere, determining the closest vehicles to a location, and annotating a driver's job with notes which will be stored in the GPS tracking software for reporting purposes.
