Privacy Policy — Compass

Compass is designed around your privacy. All your data stays on your device by default. No account is required to use the app.
Information We Collect
By default, Compass collects nothing and sends nothing off your device. All app data — your tasks, habits, reminders, focus sessions, and preferences — is stored locally on your device only.
When you choose to enable Cloud Backup (optional), the following applies:
If you connect Google Drive, Compass requests permission to access your Google account solely to read and write a backup file in your Drive. An authentication token is stored securely on your device. No other Google account information is accessed.
If you connect OneDrive, the same model applies — Compass requests access to your Microsoft account only to read and write a backup file in your OneDrive folder.
Compass never reads, modifies, or transmits any other files in your cloud storage.
How We Use Your Information
App data (tasks, habits, etc.) is used only to display your information within the app.
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No notification server is involved.
Cloud authentication tokens are used only to perform backup read and write operations when you initiate a sync.

Third-Party Services
Compass does not use any third-party services by default.
If you enable Cloud Backup, your chosen provider's services are involved:
Google LLC — Google Sign-In and Google Drive API. See Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy
Microsoft Corporation — OneDrive via OAuth. See Microsoft's Privacy Policy at https://privacy.microsoft.com
These services handle their own authentication under their respective privacy policies. Compass does not share your data with any other third parties.
No Tracking, No Ads, No Analytics
Compass contains no advertising, no analytics tools, no crash reporting services, and no data brokers. Your usage of the app is never tracked, profiled, or shared.
Data Retention and Deletion
Local data: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
Cloud backup: You are in full control. You can delete the backup file directly from your Google Drive or OneDrive at any time. Disconnecting cloud backup in the app's settings clears the stored authentication token from your device.
Children's Privacy
Compass does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. Significant changes may also be communicated via an in-app notice.
