# Privacy Policy for Smart Compass

This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Compass (the "App") accesses, uses,
processes, stores, and shares information when you use the App on Android or
iOS.
## 1. Privacy at a glance
Smart Compass does not require an account. The App includes advertising provided
by Google AdMob, but does not include developer-operated analytics. We do not
operate a server that stores your location, camera images, compass readings, or
motion-sensor readings. We do not sell personal information.
Some features use services supplied by the device platform, Google Maps, and
Google AdMob. Those third-party services may process information as described
in Section 5.
## 2. Information the App accesses and how it is used
### Location information
With your permission, the App accesses your approximate or precise current
location while the App is in use. Depending on device support, this may include:
- latitude and longitude;
- location accuracy;
- altitude and altitude accuracy;
- speed and speed accuracy;
- the time of the location reading; and
- an indication that a location may be simulated or mocked.
The App uses this information to display coordinates and GPS details, center
the map on your position, display your position and facing direction, and find
a human-readable place name through the device's geocoding service.
The App does not request background location access. Location readings are kept
temporarily in the App's memory for the active session and are not written by
the App to persistent storage or uploaded to a server operated by us. Location
or map-position information may be processed by Google Maps and the device's
geocoding provider as explained in Section 5.
### Camera
If you select the camera background and grant permission, the App accesses the
camera to show a live preview behind the compass. The App does not enable the
microphone, take photographs, record video, save camera frames, or upload camera
content to a server operated by us.
### Compass and motion sensors
The App accesses compass heading, accelerometer, and magnetometer readings to
provide compass direction, magnetic-field strength, and the bubble-level
feature. These readings are processed locally on your device. The App does not
write them to persistent storage or upload them to a server operated by us.
### App settings
The App stores the following preferences locally on your device:
- selected language;
- theme and theme mode;
- selected compass style;
- coordinate display format;
- degree-mark display preference; and
- whether initial setup has been completed.
These settings are used only to remember your choices. They remain on the
device until you change them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
### Clipboard
When you choose to copy coordinates, the App places the displayed coordinates
on the system clipboard. Clipboard content is controlled by your operating
system and may be available to other apps according to your device settings.
### Advertising and consent choices
The App uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display native and interstitial ads.
Depending on your region, consent choices, and device settings, Google and its
advertising partners may collect or process information such as your IP address,
the Android Advertising ID, device and operating-system information, App and SDK
version information, ad views and interactions, diagnostic information, and
approximate location inferred from signals such as an IP address.
The App does not intentionally include your precise GPS coordinates, camera
frames, compass readings, magnetic-field readings, or motion-sensor readings in
ad requests. The App requests non-personalized ads only. These ads are not
selected based on your past behavior, although Google and its partners may still
use contextual information and limited identifiers for purposes such as ad
delivery, frequency capping, aggregated reporting, fraud prevention, and
measurement.
On iOS, the App does not request App Tracking Transparency authorization and
does not send the IDFA in ad requests. The App also configures Google Mobile Ads
not to use the Publisher First-Party ID on iOS.
The App uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request and store applicable
advertising consent choices. Where required, you can review or change those
choices through **Privacy choices** in the App's Settings screen. Consent
information may be stored on your device and processed by Google as needed to
honor your choices.
### Communications with us
If you contact us by email, we receive the email address, message content, and
any other information you choose to provide. We use this information only to
respond to your request, provide support, protect the App, or comply with legal
obligations. We do not use support communications for advertising.
## 3. Information we do not request through the App
The App does not ask you to create an account and does not request your name,
email address, contacts, payment information, photos, media library, files, or
microphone. The App does not send camera content, precise GPS coordinates,
compass readings, or motion-sensor readings to AdMob in ad requests. Advertising
services may process the information described above for non-personalized ad
delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, measurement, and reporting.
## 4. Permissions and your choices
You may allow or deny location, camera, and motion-related permissions through
your device settings. You may continue to use features that do not require a
permission you have denied, although GPS, map, camera-background, or
sensor-dependent features may be unavailable or limited.
You can stop the App's access at any time by closing the App, revoking its
permissions in system settings, clearing the App's data, or uninstalling it.
Where available, you can change advertising consent through **Privacy choices**
in the App. You can reset or delete the Android Advertising ID in Android privacy
settings. The App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission on iOS.
## 5. Third-party services
### Google Mobile Ads and User Messaging Platform
The App uses Google AdMob to request, display, prevent abuse of, and measure
native and interstitial advertisements. It uses Google's User Messaging Platform
to collect applicable privacy and consent choices. Google and participating ad
partners may process the advertising and device information described in
Section 2 under their own terms and privacy practices.

### Google Maps Platform
The App uses Google Maps Platform to display standard, hybrid, and satellite
maps. When a map is displayed, information may be transmitted to and processed
by Google, including map requests and viewport or interaction data, IP address,
device and operating-system information, App and SDK version information,
pseudonymous or SDK-specific identifiers, and crash or performance diagnostics.
Location or map-position information may also be processed when it is needed to
center the map or display your position.
Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy practices.

### Device location and geocoding services
The App relies on location and reverse-geocoding services provided by Android,
iOS, or their service providers to obtain a current location and convert
coordinates into a place name. Those providers may process location, network,
device, and request information under their own privacy policies:

### App stores and external links
If you follow a link from the App to Google Play, the Apple App Store, system
settings, or another external service, that service processes information under
its own privacy policy. This Privacy Policy does not govern third-party websites
or services that are outside our control.
## 6. Sharing and sale of information
We do not sell or rent personal information. To provide and measure advertising,
Google AdMob and participating advertising partners may receive or process the
information described in Sections 2 and 5. Other information is processed by the
third-party service providers described above only as needed to provide maps,
location, geocoding, distribution, security, consent management, and related
technical functions. We do not provide advertisers with camera content, precise
GPS coordinates, compass readings, or motion-sensor readings.
We may disclose information if required to comply with applicable law, a valid
legal process, or a binding request from a competent authority. Because we do
not operate a server that stores App location, camera, or sensor readings, we
generally do not possess such data to disclose.
## 7. Data retention and deletion
Current location, camera-preview, compass, and motion-sensor data is handled
temporarily for the active session and is not persistently stored by the App.
App preferences remain locally on your device until changed, cleared, or removed
when the App is uninstalled.
Third-party providers, including Google AdMob and participating advertising
partners, determine their own retention periods for information they process.
Please review the policies linked in Section 5 for details about their retention
and deletion practices.
Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to
resolve the request, maintain support records, prevent abuse, or meet legal
obligations, and then deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.
To delete information stored locally by the App, clear the App's storage in
Android settings or uninstall the App. On iOS, uninstall the App to remove its
locally stored settings. You can also revoke permissions through system
settings.
## 8. Data security
We minimize the data handled by the App and keep App preferences on the device.
Communications performed by third-party platform services use the security
measures provided by those services. No method of electronic processing or
transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
## 9. Children's privacy
The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed specifically to
children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children through a developer-operated server.

## 10. International processing
Third-party providers may process information in countries other than the one
where you live. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies and
applicable data-protection safeguards.
## 11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to personal
information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion,
restriction, or objection. Because we do not maintain user accounts or a server
database of App users, we may not hold information that can be linked back to
you. For questions or requests concerning data processed by a third-party
provider, please contact that provider directly using the links in Section 5.
For privacy questions concerning Smart Compass, contact us using the details in
Section 13.
## 12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App's features, data practices,
third-party services, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be
posted at the same public URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Material
changes may also be communicated within the App or through the relevant app
store where appropriate.
