Class Brainstorming
Check out all the questions and ideas that students generated during brainstorming sessions!
Remember: It's important that you narrow your focus through the research process.
When we stay at the top of the research funnel, we only learn broad, general information.
We have to dig deeper and probe further so we can learn from experts.
We are living in a post-truth world.
What does that mean? A post-truth world is characterized by four elements (Crul, 2024):
dominance of emotion and belief
rise of echo chambers
erosion of institutional trust
blended narratives
Caused by social media, algorithmic bias, partisan media, and skepticism of experts, the impacts have been damaging. According to experts, we are living during the peak of modern internal political polarization, the erosion of democracy, and social decay. In our course, we have the benefit of learning from specialists in research and information literacy - the unsung heroes of our post-truth world - librarians. COD library, Jason Ertz, will help us sift through all the harmful information and junk to arrive at truth, knowledge, and expertise. Ideally, we will do our part to combat these serious issues our country and world are facing.
