Public Talk by Dr. Elias Aydi

                                      J-102, 5101 Evergreen Rd, Dearborn, MI 48128

Dr. Aydi is a NASA Hubble Fellow at Michigan State University.  Attendees are encouraged to pair this talk with a planetarium show, occurring in Room J-102 of the adjacent J-Building. There are two planetarium shows to choose from: one at 6:00pm and one at 8:00pm.

Talk Abstract: Evolutionary biology has already settled the debate that humans descend from the great apes (hominids) family. In addition, the discovery of DNA has made it difficult to doubt that all living organisms on Earth share a common ancestor. This is the story you hear from evolutionary biologists, but as an astronomer I have a different version of the story: If you ask me who or what our ancestors are, my answer would be "the stars"!!  Come join me in a cosmic trip to go much further back in time - we'll gaze at our evolutionary process, learn about stellar explosions, and meet our astronomical ancestors!!
