P.R.I.D.E Statement
Child of Mind has introduced P.R.I.D.E into its program. Child of Mind is committed to giving the children that attend a good sense of self. Child of Mind is committed to sharing experiences that will help children understand how important they are and that they come from greatness. Child of Mind is committed to creating family engagement opportunities that will prompt families to begin to discuss traditions more at home. Child of Mind hopes that it will encourage families to talk about heritage and their ancestors. Child of Mind is confident that this will create a significant positive reaction in the home and for the child. Child of Mind will continue to host family engaging events such as our Annual Winter Party, Summer Move up day and a number of Holiday celebrations that include family engagement with their child in and out of the daycare facility. Child of Mind will also continue to give our parents as well as anyone that crosses our path information for success. Some of the resources we will continue to share is school grant and scholarship websites, school application instructions, IQ testing sites and private Doctors that will travel to the home for IQ testing, daily routine suggestions, healthy hygiene tips, healthy eating tips, sleep training and tips on finding affordable hobbies to encourage the children to be active and expressive in their own way just to name a few.
Child of Minds passions and beliefs stems from Child of Mind's CEO's upbringing and spiritual background. When Child of Mind's CEO was a child certain traditions were followed without question and they all began at the church. The one consistent thing that never changed in her life was her family church. Child of Minds CEO is confident that her sense of self, belonging and power started in the church. Child of Minds CEO family is Hebrew/ Commandment Keepers. Her spiritual background was practiced from generation to generation. Child of Mind's CEO is the 3rd generation counting back to 1918. Hearing this throughout her childhood helped her understand the importance of her presence and how her presence was and will always be a factor. Life has a way of taking one through many roads, but her foundation helped her continue to get back on a path made for her. Upon starting Child of Mind, she vowed to give what she had been given. Child of Mind's CEO set out to be different or be the difference in every child’s life that she came by. Knowing that her words, and her actions may be remembered, can help children get back on the path that was created for them. That is what success looks like for her, one never giving up. If a child has at least one person that believes in them and shows them true love and dedication, they will forever have those memories to turn to when they are in need. Things like this can be life shifting in a positive way for students once they begin their journeys and move on from Child of Mind.
She has become a person, a voice and even family to every child that has come through her program. She supports them by being accessible, available, resourceful, relatable and familiar to them all. She thinks it’s very important that young children interrupt the cycle of racism. By doing so it sets a standard of how they would like to be treated. By practicing it, it gives them the experience of what it looks and feels like. Teachers applying the ABE goals help children to understand their importance and their equal rights, and to also identify it early in life. It equips them with language and confidence to challenge behavior of racial biases. Other races teach their children, and they step into the world with a sense of privilege, however we teach our children how things have been but do not educate them with tools to feel they have the power for change.
1.It's long overdue. Our ancestors paved a way to show us how to stand up for what's right. They demonstrated with morals, courage and broke barriers that one didn't think was possible. Lets encourage this next generation to be different. It's okay to not be a follower, let's lead and focus on what's right and what will bring us closer to a better tomorrow.
2.It's comprehensive. We all understand and can acknowledge that something has to change and there's no better time than now. Let's be each other's resource and share information to set this next generation up for great things.
3.It's a necessary Radical! We have a duty and responsibility to continue what those that came before us started. I believe with the P.R.I.D.E work, it will be a reliable resource to move further into the right direction and with diligence and commitment we will shape this generation for a better tomorrow.
