Dear Families,
Congratulations on finishing our first month of the school year!
We are happy with how everyone was able to work with their Academic Advisers in ensuring academic success this school year. Your collaboration and openness helped us finish our first month with flying colors.
As we move to our second month of this school year, we are sharing some important tips to help you and your child succeed in this distance learning setup that we have.
Our Academic Advisers update the site regularly. You may monitor your child’s lessons, things to prepare for the following week, and things that are needed to be submitted through Kindred. Things to prepare are updated weekly, the things to be prepared are released 1-2 weeks in advance to give families ample time to prepare for materials needed.
Please ensure that Google Keep is installed on your mobile device to ensure that you could submit your child’s deliverables seamlessly (click here for video tutorial). Take note also of the deadlines for submission to make sure that deliverables are sent on time and please inform our teachers if there would be delays in submission. We have been experiencing delays in receiving submissions in Google Keep even if parents submit on time. Due to this technical issue, we are not able to provide immediate feedback on your submission. In line with this, please give us, 2 to 3 days allowance to review and record your submissions.
As we are training our Upper Elementary students to be independent, we would like to encourage families to let their children submit classwork through Google Classroom and Google Keep on their own. You may give them time to submit their work after class using your mobile device for them to also be responsible for their schoolwork. As for Google Classroom, we have made it more convenient for your child to answer worksheets without having to print these out. They would just need to type in their answers and click submit and this could easily be seen and checked by their teachers.
Our Task Tracker is now live on the Kindred Website. You may click on your child’s name to check on the deliverables and other school work that they need to complete. Please make sure to check this regularly. Again, please give our teachers, 2 to 3 days allowance to review and record your submissions. If it has passed 2-3 days after your submission and the task tracker has not reflected a complete status yet, that’s the time you can coordinate with your child’s teacher so that they could double-check.
We would like to encourage you to maximize the use of Google Chat and Email in communicating with your child’s teachers. As we value the privacy of our teachers, please understand that not all of them are comfortable in receiving messages through their personal messenger or other messaging or social media platforms. As discussed during the Parent Orientation, parents should only use Google Chat and Email for effective and efficient communication with our teachers.
Please make sure to check the SDIMS Community Updates regularly which is found on your Child’s Kindred site. We will be publishing communication letters, updates, and important reminders that would help you throughout the school year.
