Local info for in-person participants

Travel to Ithaca and airport info :

Ithaca is home to Tompkins regional airport, a ~1 hour drive from Syracuse international airport, and regular busses run from NYC and other nearby locations. Please see this page for info on travel to Ithaca. If you are receiving conference funding and coming by air, you will need to book your tickets through a US carier (e.g. American, Delta, United) to comply with NSF funding guidelines.

If you are flying into Syracuse airport, you can take uber/lyft or a taxi to Ithaca, the drive is about 1 hour. If you are interested in sharing a taxi, e-mail Katie a.k.a Kathryn Mann (well in advance!) with your flight time and she'll try to coordinate. Ourbus (https://ourbus.com/) also runs a coach service from Syracuse airport to downtown Ithaca.

If you're flying to Ithaca airport, taxis are easy to come by during the day but we highly recommend setting up one in advance if you are landing at night. Uber/lyft exists sometimes, and there is also a (daytime only) bus from the airport, see https://tcatbus.com/

Hotels :

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Hotel Ithaca . Registered participants can book a room while still available for a discounted rate of $149/night by mentioning the Group ID 5311. (the group name should be Mann Communication Conference).

The hotel offers an airport shuttle to ITH airport, call to book in advance!

Getting from the hotel to campus: We are in Malott Hall. If you enter off of Tower road (near the intersection with Garden Ave), you will be close to room 251, our main room.

To get from hotel Ithaca to Malott hall, you can either walk, take public transit, drive or take a taxi.

Walking: about 40 minutes, with some significant uphill. I recommend going by the cascadilla gorge trail; while it might add a few extra minutes to the walk, it is beautiful!

Bus: public transit is pleasant and reliable here! the #10 bus runs very frequently in the morning, from downtown to campus. The #32 runs much less frequently but is very convenient for getting from the hotel up to the math department. You can find maps and schedules here: https://tcatbus.com/. Or of course use google maps.

Taxi: we recommend you book in advance; collegetown cab is the main taxi company, or ask the hotel reception.

Parking on Campus: see https://www.cornell.edu/visit/parking/ for parking info. The forest home parking garage is a <10 min walk from Malott.

Time and Place :

The conference begins Monday morning at 9:30am sharp in Malott 251, and ends Thursday at noon.

If you enter Malott off of Tower road (near the intersection with Garden Ave), you will be close to room 251, our main room.

See the schedule for more info and room numbers.

The lunch hour will be structured for small group discussions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so expect to stick around! Lunch is provided.

COVID-19 policy :

The organizers request all attendees should wear masks whenever in a classroom or lecture hall/auditorium.

Additionally, Cornell has put in place policies for visitors to campus. These continue to evolve, so please check for updates.

Housing scam warning:

Many mathematics conferences are targets of scammers claiming to book hotels. Do not give your credit card or other personal information to anyone claiming affiliation.
