This site provides resources allowing our sisters to stay connected with what is going on in Alpha Delta Kappa and around the Commonwealth District. We hope you will find the information here useful.
Hopes, Dreams and Possibilities, our theme, was created with consideration for the state theme of “New Horizons,” SER theme of “Capture the Moment,” and International theme of “Share the Love.” For me, the sunrise of Dana Meriwether’s logo symbolizes new beginnings and hope, and I firmly believe in the importance of valuing each moment with its new potential for dreams and possibilities as expressed in Ginger Greene’s theme. By working and playing together, sharing the love of sisterhood— Mollie Acosta’s international theme— we are far more likely to achieve the realization of our shared hopes, dreams and possibilities.
Here is an explanation of the other components of the logo.
Butterflies: I have always been drawn to butterflies as a symbol of hope and renewal. There are eight of them to represent the eight chapters in our district, each with its own flair.
Center Square: The center square represents the strength, history and stability of our chapters. The tilt of the square represents flexibility and understanding.
Within the Square: The center point of the square is our vision: a world that values diversity, all people and quality education. The four patterned triangles represent inclusion, educational excellence, altruism and world understanding. The eight white triangles represent the unique talents of each of our eight chapters.
Quilt Pieces: I have loved quilts since I was little girl. They are made with love and combine lots of different shapes, materials and stitches to create a beautiful design or story. For me, this represents the unique qualities and strengths of each of our chapters coming together to share talents, time, vision, mission and love to achieve our shared goals.
