A Drive for Financial Inclusion at Kheribari - An Extension Programme of Department of Commerce

Kheribari is one of the most backward villages dominated by population of tribal community under old Malda block in the district of Malda. Most of the population are Poor and illiterate. Farming operation is the primary source of income.

The Department of Commerce of Malda college had chosen this village to do some extension programme with a view to making them aware of Banking behaviour by the way of including them into banking service. We divided them into different groups and every group was simply made understand the benefit They can get from banking inclusions. It is noteworthy that due to the non availability of Banking inclusion most of the households of the village are handled and dominated by informal money lenders who exploit them at high rate of interest on the credit they cater in time of their credit need. The villagers were made aware of the of evils of informal lending and they were also advise to go to the door of banks for taking credit.
