Greetings from your Professor
Hello! I'm Professor Tiffany Ellington and I will be your instructor for Introduction to Human Communication this semester. As a way to introduce myself, I wanted to start off by mentioning that I am a product of the Community College (MJC specifically!). I started my educational journey in 2011 when I moved to Santa Barbara and attended SBCC. However, when I realized how tough it was to manage a full time job along with being a full time student, I decided to move to Turlock where the cost of living was cheaper and I could better manage working and school. I attended MJC and obtained my AAT in Communication Studies and transferred to Stanislaus State where I earned my Bachelors in Communication. I decided that I loved Communication and school so much that I wanted to become a college instructor. In 2016 I attended The University of the Pacific where I earned my Masters in Communication with an emphasis in Instructional Communication. I have been working at Modesto Junior College since 2018 and LOVE IT! I am now full time and can honestly say that I have my dream job. Aside from being a college instructor, I am a mom to two spunky daughters, Blakely is my oldest and Tinley is my youngest. My husband and I have been married for 9 years but have been together for 15 (and yes, I still put up with him! haha.). We have an 12 year old yellow lab named Bailey who is the best girl and thinks that she is the mother of the house. We also apparently decided that our lives weren't chaotic enough so we decided to throw a puppy in the mix named Bogey. In our free time, we love to hangout with family/friends, golf, attend sporting events, and travel.
I look forward to working with all of you as we explore Communication. I know you will be impressed with the skills and knowledge you 'll obtain and soon apply in your professional and everyday personal life. I'll be with you every step of the way. So will your peers. I can't wait for us to get started!
