I can't put an exact date on the song other than it was MAYBE released some time in the late 90s/early 2000s, but during a car ride I remember hearing a sort of alternative rock song with a hook along the line of "I think the bullet there was meant for me". Might've also had a lyric about the bullet being embedded in a door-frame or something, that also keeps popping up when I think about it. It's sung by a guy with a sort of tired voice, almost like Beck or Kurt Cobain, and I think there was a slight reverberation/harmonic effect on the "bullet" line.

Welcome to the latest edition of Pitchfork's Guest List. Each week, we ask one of our favorite artists to fill us in on what they've been up to lately: which tracks they can't stop spinning, what books they can't put down, and what new bands they've caught on tour. This week it's King Khan, who has been recording some up-and-coming artists in his Berlin studio, selects his favorite song about venereal diseases, and praises one of the world's most amazing kitchen appliances.
