This week, we are working on "Project A" module
Child Care/Community Care is a 5 or 6 credit course at the beginning and intermediate level. We will investigate the field of human services focussing on careers in Child Care and Elder Care. Students will explore the relationship between individuals, families, ethics, nature, health and wellness in the helping professions. Students will examine the developmental characteristics of infants, toddlers and preschoolers: the various stages of social, emotional and intellectual development of children under 5 years old. We will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the preschool at the YMCA next door, observing children’s behaviour and planning simple activities.
As this is a Career and Technology Studies Course, all curricular outcomes will be drawn from the Alberta CTS Program of Studies. Students’ marks will be based 30% on skills and competencies and 70% on program of studies outcomes.
