The Department of Mathematical Sciences at GIST hosted GIST Undergraduate Mathematics Research Day on May 29.

This event is designed especially as a mathematics research presentation event for undergraduate students. It is an opportunity to learn how students begin mathematical research, what kinds of interesting problems they explore, and how ideas and methods develop through the research process. It will also provide a meaningful occasion for students studying mathematics to share their interests and experiences with one another.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at GIST plans to continue organizing events of this kind in the future and to develop them into broader opportunities for student exchange with more universities. We also hope to encourage GIST students to explore mathematical questions of their own interest from the undergraduate level and to gain experience developing them into research projects.

The 2026 Workshop on Topological Combinatorics was held from June 28 to July 11, 2026 at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Jeonnam-Gwangju,  Republic of Korea.  The workshop aims to bring together researchers interested in applications of topology to combinatorics and related areas. This is the fifth workshop in a series initiated by Ron Aharoni (August 2018 in Shantou, July 2019 in Prague, July 2020 on Zoom, and June 2024 in Paris).
