Questions for Interviewees
As a group, we crafted together a series of critical questions that help listeners understand the context, their professional/personal experiences, and their overall takeaways. These questions helped us explore more into the internet boom/Y2K panic and the importance of researching this historical event.
For all:
Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
What was your experience with Y2K? What do you remember about the conversation surrounding it from the '90s?
Did you believe the internet was going to shut down when Y2K hit?
How do you recall your peers, family, and friends reacting to Y2K?
Is there anything else you want to share about your experience with Y2K and internet boom that we did not touch on?
For Dr. Treu and Christina Harris:
What is your background with technology?
What were your professional and personal experiences with the internet in the '90s?
What would you describe the ratio of mass hysteria to founded problems with Y2K as?
Do you think that Y2K and what came with it had significant effects on the technology industry going forward?
Have there been any other situations/technological developments that have reached the same level of panic as Y2K? Anything that has cause that much fear about technology within our culture?
