Interviewee Dossiers
Dossiers are records presenting essential information on our interviewees, their credibility, and an overall description of their importance to our project.
Christina Harris
Christina Harris has worked in the technology industry for over 30 years. She has experience in software and technology solutions at SAS, a software company specializing in analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and data management solutions. We were eager to interview Harris to learn more about the personal and professional experiences from the Y2K event as someone who was getting started within the field. Her perspective allows greater insight into the significance of the internet boom and the Y2K panic overall.
Kevin Treu
Dr. Kevin Treu is the chair of the computer science department here at Furman and has been for over two decades. As well, he has dedicated 33 years of his life to teaching here at Furman. We found it prudent to interview someone in the computer science field to describe the Y2K event because no one would understand the problem better than someone in the field. We ended up deciding on Dr. Treu because of his vast experience in the field and because he lived through the Y2K event while being a computer science professor so he was the perfect choice.
Ginny Hughes
Ginny Hughes is a Career Advisor at the Malone Center for Career Engagement. She was a teenager in the ‘90s during the Y2K panic and 22 in the year 2000. We wanted to understand the perspective of a layperson who was not in the realm of technology like our other two interviewees were, so Ginny provided valuable insight. Likewise, it was important for us to understand a diverse range of perspectives, so hearing from someone who experienced Y2K as a child as opposed to an adult was interesting.
