[Blue and Orange Lights] is inspired by a series of nighttime photographs in the UNT Music Library Digital archives. These photographs feature cold empty urban landscapes, populated by blue and orange streetlights which stand out against the darkness of the night. With this piece, I tried to capture the feeling of excitement and mystery the sometimes surreal photographs invoke.

Photosphere is the scientific term for one of the outer layers of the sun. Photosphere explores different impressions and perspectives of the sun, from overwhelming and powerful, to bright and illuminating. Listen for the high shimmering lines in the woodwind and violin, and massive powerful brass chords.
