Cutthroats outhit Hitmen for 4th Win

The Cutthroats improved to (4-0) with their victory over the Hitmen on Sunday. The Hitmen struck first, scoring one run in the first inning. Kyle Newman was the first to score for the Cutthroats, scoring off of John Hawley’s sacrifice fly to center field in the bottom of the third.

Graham Baughn hit a two rbi-single in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-1. Joe Cordo followed him with a rbi-double off the wall. An inning later, Kyle Newman recorded his second hit of the game, resulting in an rbi.

The wheels fell off for the Hitmen in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Hitmen’s pitcher, Chairez, beaned two batters and gave up two hits before being pulled. The Cutthroats ended up crossing the plate four times in the inning. The Cutthroats were plunked four times in the game.

Cutthroat of the week honors went to Kyle Newman. He went 3-3 from the plate with a double, scored three times, had one rbi and walked once. Zach Scott had another impressive day from the mound, going 8 innings, giving up one earned run, four hits, one walk, while striking out nine.
