Cutthroats Make Huge Comeback
The Cutthroats pulled off their greatest comeback in franchise history against the Dirtbags on Sunday. Trailing by seven runs going into the top of the 6th, the 'Throats managed to bring in ten runs (nine with two outs) to take the lead 14-11.
Joe Cordo started the inning off with a double. Ken Reichelt followed with an infield hit. Rich Tramazzo would knock Cordo in with a single. Eugene Espenil, the Dirtbags' pitcher, got wild with two outs. He would walk Rogers, hit Hawley with a pitch, and walk Sconce. Jorge Fernandez then hit a two-run single. With the 'Throats batting around, Cordo was up again. He hit his second double of the inning bring in two more runs. Reichelt added another rbi-single. Mark Link then hit a rbi-double. Finally, Tramazzo hit another rbi-single to finish the scoring at 14-11.
The Dirtbags were averaging two-three runs per inning through the first five innings, but failed to keep that pace. They would only score two more runs in the game.
The Cutthroats showed more firepower in the 8th inning with a two-run home run by Mark Link. It is his first of the season, and third as a Cutthroat.
Reichelt pitched the complete game for the Cutthroats. His numbers were not that impressive but they got the job done. He is now (3-0) on the season.
John Hawley helped out with the performance by catching eight fly balls in center field. He also went (2-3) from the plate, hit a double, scored four times, hit two rbis, got walked, got hit by a pitch, and hit a sacrifice fly to get Cutthroat of the Week honors.
