Cutthroats Dominate Tribe
The Colorado Cutthroats continued on their National League tear, taking on the Tribe. The Tribe is a free agent team of players that never got picked up at the draft or from the player pool. Coming into the game, they were (0-5).
Ken Reichelt took the mound for the 'Throats. He took it easy, only pitching 3 innings. He gave up three hits, an earned run, two walks, and one strikeout. John Hawley came in in relief for his Cutthroat pitching debut. He had a tough time finding the strikezone, but once he did the Tribe didn't have much luck. He gave up one run on one hit with four strikeouts. Graham Baughn finished the game with three strikeouts.
The Cutthroats had no problem finding the plate on the offensive side. Every player got at least one hit and the Cutthroats broke the singles in a game record. Out of the 19 hits they accumulated, they only had two extra base hits-doubles by Jorge Fernandez and Baughn.
The Cutthroat of the Week honors was pretty much a coin flip, but Jorge Fernandez had the best stat line by a hair. He went 3 for 4 with three runs, a walk, and a stolen base.
The game would have been a little closer if the Tribe didn't give the 'Throats so many outs. The Tribe had four base running blunders that were nice Sunday gifts for the Cutthroats. On an unusual note, the Cutthroats only retired one batter via pop fly. The very first pitch of the game was a line shot that was caught by Joe Cordo in right field. Nobody would have another pop fly or line out for the rest of the game.
The Cutthroats won easily 19-2. They have improved to (5-1) on the season. The Tribe has dropped to (0-6).
