Cutthroats Bounce Back Against Crush
The Colorado Cutthroats took on a new opponent on Sunday-the Colorado Crush. The Crush transferred from the 18 year old division. So far they haven't been very successful, coming into the game at (0-3). The Cutthroats came into the game with a (2-1) record, losing to the Bison last week.
Ken Reichelt took the mound for the Cutthroats. He pitched pretty well, statistically the second or third best pitched game in franchise history. Which is why he received the Cutthroat of the Week honors. He pitched a seven inning complete game, giving up three runs, but none of them were earned. He finished the game with three hits, eleven strikeouts and one walk.
The Cutthroats bats showed up with support. They managed to score four runs in the 1st, three in the 2nd, and seven in the 3rd to bust the game wide open. Jon Bielecki and Andy Daub both had games to wrtie home about.
The cycle watch was on with Bielecki. He hit a single in the first inning, a double in the second, and a triple in the third. He's no stranger to home runs either, he is currently the franchise leader in homers (regular + postseason). So the cycle was a very strong possibility. He ended up getting two at bats to swing for the fences. His first at bat was a fly to first base, and his second was a dribbler back to the pitcher. The cycle would not be had, but he did hit four rbis in his efforts.
Andy Daub broke out of an early season slump going 4 for 5. He hit three singles with one double-while knocking in four runs. He also scored three times.
With the 18-3 drubbing, the 'Throats improve to (3-1) on the season, and are currently at the top of the American League standings.
