After two weeks of rain and snow, the Cutthroats were finally able to take to the field. The Cutthroats have never beaten the Zombies in a real game. Last season they took the 9-0 win because the Zombies were forced to forfeit due to lack of players.
Mark Link took the mound for the 'Throats after some coaxing from the teammates-and he would not disappoint. Link went five innings, only giving up two hits and one earned run. Two costly errors by Reichelt and Link in the third inning gave the Zombies two out of their three runs.
The game was pretty slow to start, but in the fourth inning, the Cutthroats took off. Bielecki lead the inning off with a hit, followed by Reichelt, Herold, Dovey, and Hawley. A costly error by the Zombies let even more runs score. The Cutthroats were able to get eight runs in the inning off of seven hits. After the 4th inning they lead 9-3.
Snyder came in to pitch for the Zombies, but his defense did not help him that much. The Cutthroats would score six more runs, but only two of them were earned. The other four runs were due to Zombie errors.
A brand new Cutthroat, Graham Baughn, took over at the mound to finish the game. Baughn had some control issues, but took care of the Zombies nonetheless. He finished the game with two innings pitched and only giving up a fluke hit.
It took four years to beat the Zombies, but winning 15-3 was worth the wait.
