Game 6-03

Cutthroats win on Dropped Ball

The Cutthroats get their first win of the season, as well as their first win in the 25WAA league in crazy fashion.

The Bulls kept scoring runs, and the Cutthroats kept answering. The game was all tied up at four apiece after six innings. In the top of the 7th, the Bulls capitalized on some questionable calls by the field umpire. When it was all said and done, the Bulls were able to cross three runners to take a 7-4 lead.

The Cutthroats got two runs back in the 9th inning. Starting with an rbi-single from Mark Link; Link then scored on an errant throw by the 3rd baseman making it 7-6.

Kellen Flahive led the bottom of the 9th off with a single. Sreyas Krishnan then walked. Graham Baughn hit a grounder to second that resulted in a force at 2nd base. Kyle Newman then struck out. John Hawley came to the plate with the tying run on 3rd base and the winning run on first base. Hawley popped it up to the center fielder, but since it was somewhat shallow, the center fielder had to run to the ball and never had enough time to camp underneath it. The ball careened off of the glove which resulted in Flahive tying the game up and Baughn scoring to win the game.

Kellen Sorauf hit two doubles in the game. Ken Reichelt went (4-4) with a double. Mark Link took Cutthroat of the Week honors by having a great day from the plate as well as picking up the win in relief.
