Cutthroats start year off with a Tie
Some costly errors caused the Cutthroats to start the season off with a tie. In their first game in the 25WAA division, the Cutthroats failed to make the defensive plays that are crucial in this league.
The Pelicans scored three runs in the second inning off of three hits. Only one run was earned for Cutthroat pitcher Zach Scott.
John Hawley started the season off with a bang. Out of the Cutthroats' six runs, Hawley scored four of them. He went 4 for 5 from the plate and had one stolen base. He received the Cutthroat of the Week award.
The Pelicans could have played a smarter game that would have helped them immensely. They ran themselves off of the base-paths in four different plays. In the end, they left 6 runners on base while the Cutthroats left 15.
Zach Scott and Mark Link pitched for the Cutthroats, only giving up one earned run. The other five runs were due to errors. Neither pitcher received a decision.
