Playing in their second consecutive 1-run, 9-inning game, the Colorado Cutthroats narrowly lost to the first place Denver Juice on Sunday morning at Alameda High School.
With a solid defense behind him, Cutthroats pitcher Mark Link went 8 solid innings allowing only 6 hits and striking out 6. The Cutthroats took an early lead in the bottom of the first after Ken Reichelt drove in Kellen Sorauf with an RBI ground out.
The Cutthroats held the lead until Juice slugger Matt McKinnley blasted a 3-run shot in the top of the 4th. The Cutthroats battled back thanks to an RBI single by Steve Wyatt in the 5th and a game-tying solo home run by John LeDrew in the bottom of the 6th. The Juice were able to squeak out a run in the top of the 7th and the game was scoreless from that point on.
7 of 9 starters had hits for the Cutthroats, led by LeDrew and Rich Tramazzo who each had a pair.
The Cutthroats will take on the second place Zombies next week at North High School at 12:30pm.
