1-06

In their longest, closest, and most exciting game thus far, the Colorado Cutthroats dropped their fourth game of the season in a nail-biter against the Yetis.

Battling from a 3-0 deficit, the Cutthroats put up 5 runs in top of the 5th highlighted by two 2-run singles by Jon Bielecki and Kellen Sorauf. However, the Yetis scored a pair in the bottom of the 5th and the score remained tied until Steve Wyatt scored on a passed ball in the top of the 8th. Again the Yetis tied the game up in the bottom of the inning.

The Cutthroats put two runners on base in the top of the 9th, but were not able to score. The Yetis worked a leadoff walk in the bottom of the ninth, and after a stolen base and a wild pitch, the winning run scored on another wild pitch.

Bielecki pitched 8 innings and walked none, but allowed 15 hits to the free-swinging Yetis. The Cutthroats defense played better than the 4 error shown on the scoreboard, highlighted by a 4-6-3 double play, a diving catch by right fielder Tim Hairr, and a barehanded pickup and assist by shortstop Ken Reichelt.

After providing the offensive pop last week, the Cutthroats' 3 through 6 batters were a combined 3-for-14 with 6 strikeouts. At the bottom of the order, Sorauf was the only Cutthroat with more than 1 hit and Wyatt notched his first hit of the season, scored twice, and stole a base.

After a weekend off, the Cutthroats are back in action on June 3rd at 9am at Alameda High School to take on the Juice.
